The KJO is an amateur symphony orchestra initially formed in 2006 by parents of Kings College School and St John’s College School. We enjoy playing a variety of repertoire – our most recent concert programme was Coleridge-Taylor’s Overture to Song of Hiawatha, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto, and Dvorak Symphony No 9.
We rehearse during term time, with an annual concert in late November. Rehearsals are 7:45 pm – 9:30 pm on Mondays, approximately fortnightly, during the autumn and spring terms at Byron House, 63 Grange Road, Cambridge, CB3 9AA and during the summer term at King’s College School, West Road, Cambridge, CB3 9DN. There is parking in the school grounds.
If you are interested in joining the orchestra, please contact md@kingjohnorchestra.org.uk – we currently have vacancies for violas, cellos, double bass, bass trombone, tuba.
